After waking up one January morning, my dad felt a strong pain in his chest. He told my mom as she was getting ready for work, but said that he would be fine. My mom told him to keep her updated and let her know if it doesn't go away. She left for work, but her concern for my dad flooded her mind. She turned around, called her work to let them know that she could not come in, and convinced my dad to go to the hospital to get checked.
Upon receiving results from my dad's x rays and blood tests, my parents were made aware that my dad had pneumonia and leukemia. Once they got the diagnosis, they got an appointment at LDS Hospital and was able to start chemo the following day.
My dad referenced this story in gratitude throughout his entire journey. He felt so grateful that my mom turned around that day, the leukemia was caught in its early phases, and he was able to get treatment so quickly.
