Final Sunday

Throughout the evening Saturday night, I woke up intermittently aiding to the needs of my dad and keeping the fire burning.  Oh how he loved the fire!  Especially as the weather began to cool, he always enjoyed having a warm fire to retreat to.

We woke up Sunday morning and my dad was feeling sick.  He kept on expressing his deep desire to attend church, but was unsure if he was able because he felt so sick.  Shortly after awaking, he started to express some more signs of a weakened state.

About an hour before church, he told me that he wanted to get up and get dressed.  He said that he didn't think he would make it next week so he wanted to go.  He ended up passing away later that week.

He got all dressed in his suit and my brother and I helped him off to church.  His body was so weak, but his spirit was strong.  He was trying to stay long enough to hear the sweet Relief Society president, who provided so much service and love to my family, speak.  Thankfully, he was granted that desire.

His example of faithfulness has forever changed me and will be cherished.
